"SIGH!"

Yesterday Bob had CQ, so we worked all day, and then went straight to CQ after work. We went to the PX to meet him for dinner since he can't come home. I got some great deals on clothes for the girls, but that's the only good thing about the night. On my way back home I was driving down Sheridan Rd. on post and I heard a "POP" and saw something flying behind my car. I thought I had just hit a soda bottle or something, but I was wrong. Not long after I started hearing to car make a sort of clickity noise, and then it started smoking while I was on Rogers Ln. I pulled in to a gas station and had to wait for Bob to get relieved to come get us. We ended up having to call USAA to tow the car to our house. GREAT! Turns out a freezer plug fell off. A freezer plug that was just replaces 3 MONTHS ago! They must have put it on wrong or faulty because these things don't just fall off. I am so mad about it! Today we had a playdate at Jenn's house, so Bob took us, and Jenn brought us home. Tomorrow I have a meeting with Connie at the SKIES on post about becoming a dance teacher, so Bob will have to try to take off yet again or I'll have to ask a friend to take me. I don't want to miss this meeting because I want to get the ball rolling to start teaching asap! I just hope it is all fixed by next week so that I can get to my brothers graduation.

On a happier note here are a couple of pics from our playdate today!

Rainy Day = Brownies

So yesterday we woke up to thunder and lightening again. We were planning on going to MCCW and a playdate, but the rain kept us inside. I got caught up on a LOT of T.V. shows that I have been missing now that we no longer get local stations through Direct T.V.(grr), Meadow and I baked brownies! This is the first time that Meadow has ever helped me cook for real. She was "cooking" for me in her kitchen all day, so I thought she would enjoy helping me make something for real. She enjoyed splattering the batter all over the kitchen as well as eating the left over batter after it went in the oven! :D

Kimono Dress by Amy Butler

At Hobby Lobby the other day I bought Amy Butler's book "Little Stitches for Little Ones". It has a lot of cute sewing projects, and I made the kimono style dress for Lily! It is size 9-12 months, so it's a little big on here, but I think it turned out great! I used some fabric I had lying around, and I am going to make some bloomers and soft sole shoes(which is also in the book) to match.

Slacking Again. Lots to update!

I really need to stop getting out of the habit of this! I have been so busy that I haven't had time to update. Thanks to Diana for reminding me about it!

SO much has happened in the past 2 months, but I don't have time to add it all. We went to the zoo, Easter, Lily was baptized, Meadow got in the pool for the first time this year, and we have had many many playdates. I also made made a new kimono style dress for Lily. Since I last posted Lily has started sitting up, crawling like crazy, pulling up on things, and is getting teeth! Meadow is learning more and more everyday, and she is talking better everyday.

Pics:
It was so hot in April that we were able to bring out the pool! Meadow loved it and her new swimsuit!
This is at Lily's baptism on April 18th. Both Lily's grandparents came down for the occasion!
Lily started pulling herself to stand up on things at 6 months old! She is also crawling like crazy and never stops. She is getting three teeth too!
These are from Easter...

Baptismal Gown

After searching and searching for a baptismal gown for my daughter Lily I finally came to the conclusion that they are just TOO expensive! The cheapest one I found was $40, and I was not going to spend that much on a dress she will wear once!
I decided that I would just make her a dress! It would be more special anyways since it was made by her mommy. :)
All of the supplies only cost me $12, and I made the whole thing in one night! I couldn't find a pattern that I liked, so I just measured her and made it custom fit. I am so so happy with how it turned out since I haven't made a successful dress without a pattern before! :)

New New New!

Yesterday Meadow's new furniture arrived for her bedroom! I am SO excited about it! Bob was able to be off from WLC today, so he and I put them together. They are a cream/white color and are made from reclaimed wood! I am so excited that I was able to find furniture that I love from reclaimed wood!!! This is the bedroom set that will most likely last Meadow the rest of her life with us, so I'm glad we got something quality. It looks fabulous in her room!!!

Apron

So I was making those pretzels last week, and I got flour ALL over me! That is when I realized that I needed an apron. Sarah and I were at Hobby Lobby last week, and I picked up some fabric that turned in to a reversible apron! I used the pattern from here. It is a pretty good pattern, but if I were to make another one I would make it wider at the top. It is a little too narrow for me, but it is still cute and functional! :)

Just a Photo

This is a photo I took of my daughter Meadow. I love it. She has her feet in perfect first position, and she just looks so ... natural.

Orders For Some Friends

I recently filled a couple of orders for some of my friends. I made two mai tais for them. They both wanted similar patterns, and I made them reversible! One side is blue with brown dots, and the other is brown with blue dots. The shoulder straps are lightly padded, and I just think it is super cute! I also made a stretchy for Heather, and pocket diapers and fleece covers for Miranda. The pocket inserts are made of hemp fleece.

Pretzel Treats

I love the mall pretzel so much, so I though I would give pretzel making a try! These are amazing, and even better than the mall pretzels I think!

They took me about three hours to make including the one hour it took for the dough to rise. I just salted and buttered mine, but you can also dip them in butter and cinnamon/sugar or whatever topping you want! YUM!

INGREDIENTS:
4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45
degrees C)
5 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1/2 cup baking soda
4 cups hot water
1/4 cup kosher salt, for topping

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center; add the oil and yeast mixture. Mix and form into a dough. If the mixture is dry, add one or two tablespoons of water. Knead the dough until smooth, about 7 to 8 minutes. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

3. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). In a large bowl, dissolve baking soda in hot water.

4. When risen, turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and twist into a pretzel shape. Once all of the dough is all shaped, dip each pretzel into the baking soda solution and place on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with kosher salt.

5. Bake in preheated oven for 8 minutes, until browned.
The whole lot!

I have been a slackin'

So, I haven't posted anything in at least a month! I have been so busy! Bob left for WLC at the beginning of the month, and he won't be back until March 11th. I started school again, so that has been filling my time also. I'm just super super busy.
Happenings from the past month:
Meadow started taking ballet. We are doing a mommy and me class at Lawton City Ballet. She likes it a lot, but she
won't let me help her! She will do everything wonderfully when the teacher helps her, but resists like crazy when I try! It is ok though because the teacher doesn't mind. She is the youngest in the class, and everyone is patient with her.

My mom came down the weekend before Meadow's birthday, and we painted the girls' rooms! Meadow's is a bright pink, and Lily's is a pretty green. I LOVE them! I made curtains for Meadow's room because her blinds didn't fit in the window. They are pretty adorable.

We celebrated Meadow's 2nd birthday as a family on February 22nd! We had dinner at Applebees, and had a fabulous time! :) She got lots of coloring things: a coloring book, markers, and a crayon roll to hold all her crayons for on the go! She also got Wall-E which she loves! She opened in and exclaimed "Wall-E!". Haha, we have had to watch it many times already. Her favorite gift of all was a singing dancing Broby doll. He all time favorite show is Yo Gabba Gabba, so I got her this Broby doll. She started dancing to the music immediately! Haha she loves it.

We went to the Science Museum in OKC too. It was really great! Meadow had a lot of fun with all of the hands on things. The only low point to the day was when she got hit in the face with a run away top. :( It flew off the table and hit her right in the face! She had a black eye for about a week.

We also went to the zoo with our friends from Connect the Tots. We had a fun day with Lindsey and Lily, Traci and Mia, Christina and Nate, Diana and Aubry, and Diana's cousin! We saw lots of animals, and of course Meadow liked the birds the most! She also the kitty cats!

Lily got her ears ears pierced this weekend, AND she ate baby oatmeal for the first time!

Diaper Covers Galore

esterday I made three new diaper covers! Two are for Lily and one is for sale. I do make more for selling though!

My favorite is the one that I monogramed with Lily's initial. It is my first attempt at monograming, and I think it turned out PERFCT!  It just looks so cute on her little bum!
